A friend is at the show tonight and texted that VC is out. She's not scheduled to only do 6/week, right? I'm assuming she's just under the weather.

They wouldn’t want the risk of losing their desired house or having to make the show work in a much larger space. Plus this way it’s easier to sell out and create word of mouth.
This is exactly what I assumed as well.

whatever that image/link is isn't working
also they pulled discounts and premium seats are now almost $300 (not sure where someone saw $500)
Makes me think they know the clock is ticking and are going to try and pull in every cent they can

Since my image is not uploading, here were the understudies for today’s matinee (November 12):
The role of Aaron will be played by Miguel Gil
The role of Buddy will be played by Jim Hogan
***Victoria Clark and Bonnie Mulligan performed the matinee

Typically if a show pulls it’s discounts and charges more money it’s because tickets are selling enough that they have the confidence that they can sell tickets for more money…

We were at the matinee, and while disappointed not to see Boyer (I'm a big fan) the show was simply terrific. Heartfelt, funny.....smart.

except we can all go on telecharge and see the seating charts for every performances and that atleast as of right now is not the case, this show has good sales a few days out at, but a few weeks out and it is still pretty empty and this is the kind of show that needs to start building an advance, one week of covid cancelations or what not and it will be in trouble

I was at Saturday's matinee. This is the best new musical on Broadway I've seen in years.
I saw it at The Atlantic last fall, and thought it was good but not great. The transfer dialed everything up and turned it into a truly wonderful show. The score is catchier, the sets are better, and I think it now strikes a perfect tonal balance.
Victoria Clark and Bonnie Milligan were as great (if not better) than they were downtown. Special shoutout to Alli Mauzey - her character was much more memorable than it was in its previous iteration. Jim Hogan was on as Buddy and did a great job..he even made Victoria Clark briefly break character and crack up at one point!
This is really a gem of a show and I look forward to seeing it many times.

I felt similarly about the off-Broadway iteration so this kind of review is great to hear. I hope they can stay afloat until the spring so I can see it again.

Yawn.
I know you have some vendetta against this show, but at least save us this BS.
Please come back to me with a singular example of a show that was petering out and responded by raising prices before closing. I can't think of a single show that was at risk of closure and responded by raising prices.
After a show announces a closing date? Of course! At that point, they all capitalize on all of the people running to see it before it closes.
Pulling discounts is a response to universal praise including one of the most gushingly positive reviews I have EVER read from Jesse Green.

Yes and Jesse Green's review pretty much said this show isn't likely to last long as well
and you are right I absolutely have a vendetta against this show, thats why I wrote a glowing review about a page back (eye roll) you really nailed me

Then maybe stop discussing the possible doom and gloom of it, and, SEEMINGLY, taking such joy in it (which is how your posts read). YES, it doesn't look like it's going to make it....its going to depend on whether they can see a turnaround in sales due to both word of mouth and the crazy strong reviews, and, of course, how deep the producers pockets are to keep it going.

Just saw this thing and I really, really disliked it. I have no idea how this won awards off-Broadway and got so many great reviews. To me, it was just a step above children's theatre with a few F-bombs thrown in for good measure. It's totally twee and cutesy-poo. I could not believe this score was written by Tesori - her blandest work yet, in my opinion. Cannot remember one single song. Almost left at intermission but since I paid full price, I stayed and was sorry I did. (They stupidly yanked the discount code the second the reviews came out.) Anyway, I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just hated it.
PS - I don't know how much they are selling the box seats for, but do NOT sit in them. I was in front Mezz and had a perfect view of the poor people sitting in the boxes trying desperately to see anything at all. Most of them left at intermission, I assume because the seats are so awful.

Saw this on Sunday and I’m still absolutely in love with Kimberly Levaco and her crazy-ass tragic family / world. Was lucky enough to win the lottery to their first preview downtown and was one of the first to report back at how wonderful I thought this show was, (even though there were many dissenters here saying there was no way this had a future uptown) and how absolutely stellar and divine Victoria Clark is in this role.
Although I feel like this show has lost about 15% of its charm/quirkiness/organic nerdiness with the transfer, this still remains one of my favorite shows of the past few seasons. Clark is still a front runner in my opinion for her second Tony for this role. Absolutely astounding.
My other shout outs since the Atlantic production go to Bonnie Milligan and Alli Mauzey. Good god can Milligan rip!! The vocals are just crazy next level. Aunt Debra is now less of an Aidy Bryant impression and more a fully realized character of Milligan’s own. And Alli Mauzey’s country tinged “Father Time” has become one of my favorites of the show. In my opinion Tesori has eclipsed Fun Home with this score, and I absolutely can’t wait until we get a cast recording of this show - it will be wonderful!

Father Time is my absolute favorite song from this show and Alli Mauzey is kind of the show's secret weapon or unsung hero. She's wonderful.

she sure is! Pattie’s character has grown richer and deeper and you have compassion for her now, but in a much different sense then the compassion we feel for Kim.

Father Time is a beautiful song but it didn't ring true to that character AT ALL for me. She does a complete 180 from how we have been introduced to her to when she has this tender moment. The character arc didn't make sense especially since we never really see this tender or conflicted motherly side from her again.
